After much debate and consideration, along with several people telling me that I should just get over myself and do it, I have taken a leap and cranked up a blog.  Why?  Long story short, I believe the Facebook crowd was getting tired of me and the occasional sermon.  A blog might be better suited towards discussions and debates centered around several of my favorite subjects–space exploration, the environment and climate change, history and world affairs, the military, and of course, science fiction of all sorts.

I will also post my own efforts to increase my own knowledge about the skies above.  I have a keep interest in astronomy, both planetary and interstellar.  I have a pair of decent telescopes, some acceptable camera equipment, and the desire to get the know them all better.  When you look up at the sky above you, what do you see?  A handful of planets and stars, if you are like most of us, living in a sea of city lights that outshine the heavens.  If you are lucky enough to live out in the areas of the world with night skies still unspoiled, you know of a much richer scene.  I’ll show you what I can, from where I am, as often as I can.

So there you are.  While I am certainly no Neil deGrasse Tyson, Bill Nye or Brian Greene, I will try my best to keep everyone who takes a sideways glance at this page interested, informed and possibly, if I am good enough, a little more enlightened.
